Strathardle Pilgrimage Trail
An imersive augmented reality experience
You are invited to walk part of the Cateran Trail - an established long distance footpath in East Perthshire, from Ballintuim to Kirkmichael listening to these audio tracks, and reflecting on them in the hope perhaps of discovering something not just about those who were interviewed, but also about yourself.
Starting at the font of the church in Ballintuim and ending in the graveyard at Kirkmichael, the audio trail had been designed to be an immersive and emotional listening experience, stimulating a sustained time-based and ordered engagement with other people’s stories. The trail also physically and metaphorically connects these two churches. You will need an android or iOS GPS device such as a smart phone or tablet. Download the echoes xyz app and then download the sound walk before you go. The trail is 5 miles long and will take 2-3 hours to walk. It is mainly on rough track, with an ascent of about 200 metres. Alternatively you may like to walk somewhere else closer to where you are. Once you have the app and trail downloaded, you can pause the walk and start each track manually at a location of your choice. |

To the PilgrimSet out!
You were born for the road Set out! You have a meeting to keep Where? With whom? Perhaps with yourself Set out! Your steps will be your words - The road your song, The weariness your prayers And at the end your silence will speak to you Set out! Alone, or with others - But get out of yourself! You have created rivals - You will find companions You envisaged enemies - You will find brothers and sisters Set out! Your head does not know Where your feet are leading your heart |
